Paranormal Theories

The following is a list of theories that intrepid, ethical, and informed paranormal investigators rely on to seek the truth and provide evidence:

Electromagnetic Field (EMF)

A physical field composed of both electric and magnetic fields which are produced by natural and man-made sources.  In paranormal research theories, high EMF's may indicate the presence of a ghost or spirit.

Electromagnetic Pump

A theoretical concept whereby EMF's produced by a device may offer free energy for ghosts or spirits to use to be able to physically manifest and/or allow for easier communication with the living.

Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP)

Audio recordings of human voices or words generally inaudible to human ears but seeming to emanate from an intelligent source.

Infrasound

Sound waves with frequencies between 0 to 20Hz previously thought to be inaudible to human ears.  Infrasound is generated by natural sources like earthquakes and elephants, and man-made sources like explosions.  Long-term effects of infrasound can cause people to feel paranoid, like they are not alone, and even nauseous.  Research has indicated that many reportedly haunted locations have measured higher volume infrasound frequencies.

Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC)

The use of electronic devices to allow for communication between the physical and spiritual planes of existence.  In paranormal research, many investigators prefer to use electronic voice recorders to capture voices that are generally inaudible to human ears.

Intelligent Haunting

A paranormal experience where a ghost or spirit is aware of the living and can interact and communicate with them.

Residual Haunting

Stone Tape Theory

A theory that events from the past can be recorded on rocks such as limestone and quartz and played back randomly when environmental conditions are optimal.  Recorded events may be loops of "positive" past events like a historic family home with generations of happy memories, or may be caused by loops of "negative" past events like bloody battlefields.  In either case, there is no intelligent communication with the living.

Please Note:  We believe we captured video proof of the Stone Tape Theory during our investigation at the Reynold's Mansion in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.  Please check that episode out and let us know what you think!
